Death Cases - Children
There is nothing more devastating to the parent than the death of a child. Having represented hundreds of families who have lost children, we understand that. Whether the child is 6 days, 6 years or 60 years old, the death completely upsets the balance of life.
We represented a family that lost a 6-day-old boy as a result of the negligence of his pediatrician. His case was tried to a jury in Tallahassee, Florida where there had not been a verdict for a patient in a medical malpractice case in 16 years. The insurance company for the doctors offered nothing to settle the case. The first two times the trial was started, mistrials were declared and we had to come back a third time. After a two-week trial, the jury returned a verdict in favor of the parents for $3,400,000, by far the largest verdict for the death of a child in Leon County.
