POOR RESPONSE BY ATTRACTION PERSONNEL LEAD TO NEEDLESS FATALITY OF 14 YEAR OLD
Robyn Ingram, as Personal Representative of the Estate of Lacey Ingram, a minor vs. Busch Entertainment Corporation d/b/a Busch Gardens Tampa Bay
13th Circuit, Hillsborough County, Florida
Stacy Ingram was just 14 years old when she boarded the Kumba roller coaster at Busch Gardens in Tampa. What neither Stacy nor her mother knew, however, was that she had a congenital heart defect and by the time the Kumba ride came to a stop she was unconscious. Despite her condition, Stacy would have lived if Busch Gardens’ personnel had responded promptly and properly. Stacy died because park personnel were poorly trained and slow in responding.
On behalf of Stacy’s mother we filed suit against Busch Gardens claiming the park personnel were negligent in responding to Stacy’s medical emergency. After a two-week trial, the jury agreed and returned a verdict in our favor. As a result of our verdict, Busch Gardens improved the training of their personnel and Stacy has left her mark on this world by helping to insure that no one else will die needlessly at Busch Gardens because of poorly trained Park employees.
